We are always looking for new members to join our orchestra and choir, regardless of previous experience, so please get in touch by filling in the form opposite if you're interested!
FAQsWhen/where do you rehearse?
Rehearsals are monthly on a Sunday afternoon - the choir usually rehearses from 2-4pm and the orchestra from 4-6pm, with a short break in between for a cup of tea and a biscuit! Rehearsals take place at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith.
When/where do you perform?
We perform twice a year, usually at St. James' Church, Paddington, with a programme that includes both choral and orchestral music. For the past few years we have also held an annual carol concert in the chapel of Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Do I have to be a doctor to join?
Absolutely not - although many of our members our doctors, we also have lots who are from other healthcare professions. And some who don't really have any connection other than just wanting to make great music with us!
Do you hold auditions?
No! We are an amateur and un-auditioned group, but despite that we still try to find the best mix of fun and working hard to make a great sound. It's usually useful to be able to read music though (due to the limited number of rehearsals).
But I haven't sung/played in years!
That's ok - we find that lots of people who've given up music for a while fall right back into it really quickly. Our members also really enjoy the opportunity to make new friends as well as have a chance to play or sing again.
What sort of music do you perform?
We perform a wide variety of classical music, ranging from Purcell, Handel and Mozart through to romantic and much more modern music (including film scores from Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter). Check out our past performances.
How much are subscriptions?
We ask members to pay a small annual subscription of £20, which primarily goes toward music hire.
